Entry-Level Immigration Paralegal


Masuda Funai is seeking a full-time Immigration Paralegal to work in our Schaumburg location. You will assist the attorneys in all aspects of immigration matters including document assembly, file management and drafting letters.



  • Research and analyze law sources, such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes, as requested by assigned attorneys
  • Prepare legal forms and documents for review and approval by assigned attorneys
  • Forward legal forms and documents to clients for signature and processing after approval by assigned attorneys
  • Prepare and review legal forms and documents for submission to appropriate governmental agencies
  • Communicate with clients by e-mail or telephone to provide requested information and/or to inform clients about submission
  • Complete assigned cases in a timely manner each day
  • Provide assigned attorneys with daily updates about status of assigned cases
  • Perform clerical duties such as completing typing and dictation of forms and supporting documents, photocopying forms and supporting documents, and reading, routing and responding to incoming mail
  • Review, maintain and pend document files
  • File correspondence and legal documents in physical files and in office on-line systems
  • Ensure proper indexing and filing of original documents


  • Bachelor's degree with a 3.0 or higher GPA (will consider candidates who will be graduating in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree)
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to write supporting documents, reports and business correspondence
  • Excellent business writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong organization, document management and prioritization skills
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Masuda Funai is seeking a full-time Translator with a minimum of 5 years of translation experience to join our Japan Resources Group in the Chicago office. You will provide translation assistance to the attorneys, across all of our practice areas, as well as the marketing department. 



  • Translation of legal documents and client correspondence from Japanese to English and English to Japanese
  • Interpreter services during telephone conferences and meetings
  • Translation of marketing materials and preparation of bilingual materials for seminars and training sessions


  • Native Japanese with excellent oral and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
  • Experience translating complex documents
  • High degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and lead projects through to completion
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with a law firm or professional services firm is beneficial
