Masuda, Funai, Eifert & Mitchell, Ltd. is pleased to welcome Koichiro (Ko) Sato as a Principal in the Los Angeles office. Fluent in English and Japanese, Ko brings extensive experience in bankruptcy, litigation, and transactional work, focusing on serving Japanese companies navigating the U.S. market. As a member of the Commercial, Competition, and Trade and Litigation Practice Groups, he provides comprehensive legal support, including outside general counsel services, and for cross-border transactions, international arbitration, and intellectual property licensing.
Ko’s notable achievements include advising a major manufacturer in a $1.5 billion acquisition of an automotive supplier and defending a global pharmaceutical company in patent invalidation proceedings. A member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), he has served as counsel under various arbitration rules, including ICC and UNCITRAL. Ko is licensed to practice law in California, New York, and England & Wales, and previously served as a visiting foreign attorney at Masuda Funai from 2020 to 2021.
