On Thursday, December 3, 2026, Masuda Funai will co-host "Pitfalls & Key Considerations in U.S. Law: Compensation, Benefits & Hiring Strategies for 2027" a two-part seminar with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Chicago (JCCC) Member Services Committee and Pasona N A, Inc. the North American subsidiary of Pasona Group Inc., a major Japanese multinational human resources and staffing corporation.

Part 1: Learning from Inquiry Trends! Pitfalls and Key Considerations in U.S. Law
Drawing on recent trends in inquiries received by our company—such as “An expatriate’s visa was suddenly canceled,” “Are there any specific legal considerations when using AI?” and “If tariff burdens are raised, can suppliers increase their product prices?”—we will explain key U.S. legal considerations and countermeasures that executives and managers should be aware of when operating a U.S. corporation.

Part 2: Salary, Benefits and Hiring Strategies for 2027: Insights from Regional Data and the U.S. Market
Develop your company’s strategies based on data from approximately 1,000 Japanese companies in the U.S. and regional market trends. “How do our company’s salary levels compare to the local market where we recruit?” “How should we plan our budget and company contributions in anticipation of rising health insurance premiums?” “Which strategies should we review first to improve hiring and employee retention?” Pasona N.A., Inc. conducted the “Survey on Salaries, Benefits, and Organization at Japanese Companies in the U.S. 2027" (SSV2027), with participation from approximately 1,000 Japanese companies in the U.S.—the largest sample size to date (valid responses: 965 companies).

In this seminar, we will explain the survey results from across the United States, as well as salary, benefits and hiring trends in each host region, incorporating U.S. market data. We will also discuss the relationship between market comparisons and adjustments to salaries and the impact on hiring and retention, as well as the relationship between the provision of benefits and voluntary turnover rates. Furthermore, through a self-assessment, we will help you identify areas to review and adjust in preparation for 2027.
