Masuda, Funai, Eifert & Mitchell, Ltd. represented METAWATER Co., Ltd. ("META") and METAWATER USA, Inc. ("MUSA"), META's wholly-owned subsidiary, in the acquisition of 100% of the capital stock of Wigen Companies, Inc. ("Wigen") by MUSA. The deal successfully closed as of April 1, 2020. Wigen is located in Chaska, MN, and is a global market provider of water treatment and purification systems.
Because of this transaction, Masuda Funai is now one of the very few and first law firms to have submitted a CFIUS Declaration under the new CFIUS regime, which went into effect on February 13, 2020. Monika Oyama led the Masuda Funai transaction team, which included significant contributions from Michael Bedell and Gregory Wright.
