As Chair of the Estate Planning and Administration Practice Group, Rey Tanig represents clients in estate planning, probate and corporate matters. He has extensive experience in planning and administering estates, including the preparation and filing of U.S. federal estate tax, state inheritance and fiduciary income tax returns, for individuals with assets, heirs and beneficiaries both in the U.S. and abroad. He assists citizens, resident aliens and non-resident aliens in preparing various estate planning instruments, such as wills and powers of attorney for property and health care. Mr. Tanig also assists clients with the formation of trusts, including bypass/credit shelter, irrevocable life insurance, minor's, special needs, charitable remainder and dynasty trusts. He has substantial experience with complex planning, including qualified domestic trusts (QDOT), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRT) and family limited partnerships. He has litigated trust disputes in chancery and probate court.

In addition, Mr. Tanig handles a variety of corporate matters, including incorporation, recapitalization, mergers and acquisitions via asset sales or stock sales, leases, shareholder agreements and dissolutions.

Mr. Tanig is a frequent speaker at various civic groups and organizations on estate planning. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He received his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1993 and his B.A. in English from the University of Illinois in 1990. Mr. Tanig is a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council.
