Sayaka Kawakami focuses her practice on intellectual property, sales and distribution, financing and corporate matters, and commercial and non-commercial litigation.
Ms. Kawakami assists clients in reviewing and drafting various sales and distribution agreements, including dealer/distributor, sales representative, OEM and bailment agreements and terms & conditions of sale and purchase. She also advises clients on dealer/distributor and sales representative termination and export control, as well as other trade matters.
As a member of the Intellectual Property & Technology Group, Ms. Kawakami assists clients in the prosecution of trademark and copyright and drafts and reviews website terms and conditions, privacy policies and licensing agreements.
Ms. Kawakami also assists clients in a variety of financing and corporate matters, including the establishment of corporations and drafting, reviewing and negotiating terms of revolving loan facilities, letters of credit and promissory notes.
During law school, Ms. Kawakami worked as a legal intern at the legal department of a major Japanese tire manufacturer and as a legal extern for Magistrate Judge Abel at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. She is a native Japanese speaker.
