For over twenty-five years, Colin Hara has been representing and advising clients on a broad range of corporate issues, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, establishment of corporations and LLCs, distribution agreements, technology licensing and technology transfers.
Mr. Hara's employment and labor practice includes reviewing, drafting and negotiating employment agreements, as well as the development of corporate human resource policies and employee handbooks.
In addition, Mr. Hara represents clients in all types of immigration matters pertaining to work-related visas, including employment authorization visas and non-work applications for spouses.
For over ten years, Mr. Hara has been a Director of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Chicago (JCCC) and the JCCC Foundation. He is also a frequent speaker on employment and personnel issues affecting Japanese and other foreign companies conducting business in the U.S. In fall 2002, he spoke in Japan at the State of Illinois Seminar, Establishing Corporations and LLCs in Illinois, and he has been a presenter on similar topics several times at JCCC seminars in Chicago.
Represented a Japanese industrial machine manufacturing company in the negotiation and consummation of the asset purchase agreement of a machinery distribution and service company.
Handled the reorganization and restructuring of a U.S. holding company of a large Japanese trading company and its subsidiary companies.
Represented a Japanese engine component manufacturer in the establishment of a domestic joint venture manufacturing company.
Advised and negotiated on behalf of a Japanese chemical company in the restructure of a Japanese specialty chemical production and sales joint venture with a U.S. company.
